Private firms in the UK are expected to give employees an average pay increase of 2.5 per cent in 2019, the latest analysis from XpertHR revealed recently. Zawya reported on the prediction, noting that this is the same level of pay increase as recorded in 2018.
However, other research released by jobs site Indeed highlighted some jobs where salaries are increasing much more significantly.
Yahoo shared the Indeed research, which revealed that dentists are the ones who are seeing the biggest increase in wages. The news provider noted that jobs listed for dentists have seen their salaries climb by 25 per cent since this time last year.
Dental nurses and hygienists have also seen their pay climb by 18 per cent in the last 12 months, the research found.
Other jobs that have experienced substantial pay increases include insurance lawyers and underwriters (21 per cent rise), audiologists (21 per cent climb) and plant fitters, operators and mechanics (15 per cent jump).
UK economist at Indeed Pawel Adrjan commented: “In sectors where there are long-term shortages of skilled staff, such as dentistry, insurance underwriting and industrial engineering, the battle for talent is morphing into an all out salary arms race.”
