Types of Disclosure and Barring Checks available from Agenda Screening Services:
Basic criminal checks are conducted through Disclosure Scotland, with whom Agenda is a registered user. Basic checks are available for all types of employment and voluntary positions. The Basic check provides details of all unspent convictions, is not job-specific and is available for all UK residents.
Standard DBS Disclosure
Standard DBS checks are for people entering certain professions, such as members of the legal and accountancy professions. Standard checks contain the spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands and warnings held in England and Wales on the Police National Computer. Relevant convictions in Scotland and Northern Ireland may also be included.

Enhanced DBS Disclosure
An enhanced check with information from the DBS’s children and/or adults barred list is only available for those individuals engaged in regulated activity with children and /or adults and a small number of posts as listed in the Police Act regulations, for example prospective adoptive parents.
Adult First Check
The Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) Adult First check searches the Department of Health’s list of people who it bars from working with vulnerable adults. Those employing people to posts that involve working with vulnerable adults may be able to request a check of the Vulnerable Adults’ Barred list. ISA Adult First described in Department of Health guidance as applicable ‘where a care worker may be allowed to start work in a care home, for a domiciliary care agency, or as an adult placement carer before a DBS check has been issued’. ISA Adult First checks can only be applied for if you submit a DBS Enhanced Disclosure application.
