Due to the recent events of the COVID-19 pandemic, online learning from home is in high demand from parents who are having to establish a work-life-home schooling balance, and it could be putting children at risk.

It is a legal requirement in the UK for anyone wishing to work within an educational establishment to have a criminal record check conducted, however for self-employed private tutors, this is not the case if they are teaching in a private setting.

Statistics have shown that in the last year, police in England and Wales recorded 73,260 sexual offences where the victims were identified as children – a rise of 15% on the previous year (source: Office for National Statistics) – showing why government regulation in this area is imperative now more than ever.
